I am leaving my position as a high school english teacher at San Nicolás Diacano in Chicureo to finish my masters thesis. They need someone as soon as possible but do have a posible substitute lined up if someone needed to get their ducks in a row before coming in. They want a native english speaker. A bachelor´s degree is required but no teaching certificate needed.
The position is from Monday to Thursday, from about 8 am to 4:30 pm. Leaving a bit earlier on mondays and a bit later on wednesdays. I teach from 8th grade through 12th grade. Its a smaller, private school. The kids are chileans and like to talk but are good kids in general. The working environment between the teachers is great and my boss, Alicia, is the bee´s knees. Very supportive and very "de piel." It pays 660 before taxes.
Yes, Chicureo. As I said before, it takes 25 minutes for me to get here from my apartment near Metro Tobalaba. There is also a direct route from Los Piramedes for those who live in Las Condes and Vitacura. And very little trafic coming in or out, since most people come in and leave a little later. And the drive is beautiful!
I would recommend this job for anyone who is thinking about working in education, even if not in english. I have learned a lot in the two months I have been here, about education in general and in Chile. I would love to leave these kids in good hands!
Here´s hoping!
